About

Light fades, fear rises...

Made for the Nokia Jam #6 (Feb/2024). Theme was "FREEZE!", but I didn't take it into account.

Like Lights Out, an older game I made for this jam, I wanted to explore the 1-bit palette the Nokia had to play with light mechanics.

The idea of using a lantern came up quickly, but then I thought on how to make interesting gameplay with this mechanic... I ended up being kinda lazy and made a Survival Horror game. Or I at least tried to :)

I don't like horror games, so I'm not that happy with the final result. This also made making this game kinda boring at times, and to be honest, I just wanted to finish it and go do something else. That's the reason for the short duration.

Trying to make interesting sounds with those limited beeps was the highlight for me IMO, and I ended up using the light mechanic I wanted to use.

Inspirations: FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, and Vampire: The Masquerade's Ocean House Hotel section.
Both GDC videos with FAITH's creator, Airdorf, were immensily helpful.

This is a great little horror game, nice one! Very dense with good scares. I enjoyed it-but did not finish it (yet)

Intriguing.  Is there a way to make the newspaper go away?  The first time I ran into it I kept walking and it finally disappeared, but on the way back I hit it and then it wouldn't go away, which makes it very hard to continue doing anything in the game.

My bad, I should've mentioned that you can close the newspaper by pressing X or J. Thanks for reporting this!
